Before I signed up for the Joint Pain Program, I was trapped in a cycle of believing that exercise would worsen my pain.
I hardly left the house, most days not even getting out of bed. This challenge led me into a deep depression, and my anxiety was through the roof.
Once very active, I had been reduced to doing very little and felt as though pain was now my life.
I decided to take part in the JPP classes because they were free, and I felt I had little to lose, having given up waiting for help through physiotherapy. I was nervous at first, but surprisingly, I began feeling better little by little.
I learnt that pain was not my life and that exercise did not make it worse. I learnt the right exercises to do and the correct way to think; I was letting my negative thoughts impact my health.
I made friends, started enjoying swimming again, and learnt to manage my pain positively.I have ADHD, so my active brain always wanted to be on the go, but my arthritis and fibromyalgia were holding me back.
Now, I think I can balance everything. I walk more, swim, and do aquafit once a week. I do small bouts of home exercises that I learnt during the program, and I make sure to rest after swimming.
I am healthier, I've lost some weight, and although I still have pain, I'm learning every day more ways of managing it.
The changes I've achieved bring me happiness. I have reasons to get out of the house, and I now look forward to the days ahead.
To anyone hesitating about signing up for the Joint Pain Program, don't!
Sign up and let them help you to help yourself. It's the best thing I've done in a long time.
I've now signed up for an ongoing membership and will continue to make improvements.
I'm very grateful for Mihai and the JPP classes, so thank you for all the help.
