My life was dominated by major knee pain resulting from osteoarthritis and some pain and limitations from a damaged lower spine.
I was so limited in many activities that by halfway through each working week, I was relying on a knee brace.
This was so debilitating that I had left my job.
I was desperate to take action to stabilize my damaged knees, reduce pain, and increase my range of activity, but I wanted to do it safely to ensure I wouldn't cause further or more permanent damage.
After applying what I learned in the JPP classes, I gained confidence in how to make safe and steady exercise changes to strengthen my joints.
I moved to a can-do mindset, building mental resilience for the days when things are worse or setbacks occur.
I learned how to do everyday exercises and how to use gym equipment effectively and specifically for joint conditions.
The results are that I am much more confident in judging what I can do and attempt.
I am less fearful of harm and more confident that I can balance the ups and downs of my condition.
It's now easier to go up and down a moderate number of stairs and undertake other exercises.
I have less pain and more mobility.
I still have arthritis and joint pain. I still have some limitations, but I feel much more equipped to manage this without feelings of desperation.
For anyone hesitating about signing up for the Joint Pain Program, my advice is: just do it.
The programme will give you a mental, emotional, and physical structure to work through.
If you work through it honestly, you will find positive changes.
I'd like to extend my thanks to our coach, Mihai, and the wonderfully supportive group.
